  • The importance of cooperation with local authorities for promotion the ecoremediation technologies [Elektronski vir]

    Since the invention of the first steam engine in the second halj of the 18th century we have been witnesses of the constant modifications, improvements and new inventions which in different ways ... facilitate our work. The Industrial Revolution was a major developmental leap in the technology of that time but about the consequences they have brought to environment we are aware of only recently. By every step today we can see the effects caused by man with his improper conduct towards the environment and therefore the greatest challenges of our time is to create a balance between man and nature. Future technological innovations related to the elimination of environmental issues will be for current and future generations just as revolutionary as it was the invention of the steam engine in the second half of the 18th century. Ecoremediation technology in accordance with natural processes, reduce and eliminate pollution at the various sources of pollution are being used recently for the field of security and protection of the natural environment as well as the revitalization of degraded areas. They are suitable mainly because they do not require large financial investments and because they work in accordance with natural processes. The most important thing during the actual ecoremediation technologies and the expertise is also participation of the local institucions. Influential villagers, politicians and local residents have to work together to protect the environment and this is crucial for the successful revitalization of brownfield sites. In this paper we present an example of good practice in municipality Poljčane where a part of their financial resources and time devoted to activities related with environment protection through ecoremediation technologies. The vision of that municipality is to live in harmony with nature and therefore a part of its assets invested in the promotion and protection of natural environment protection.
