  • Dry deposition measurements of ozone in the complex terrain in the Triglav national park, Slovenia
    Gomišček, Boštjan
The aim of the project "Assessment of dry depositions of ozone and ▫$NO_2$▫ in forested areas of Slovenia" was to obtain fluxes and deposition velocities of athospheric pollutants ozone and nitrogen ... dioxide over a coniferous forest in Slovenia. Dry deposition measurements of ozone and nitrogen dioxide based on flux-gradient method were performed for the first time in Slovenia over a spruce forest at the high plateau Pokljuka (1200 m a.s.l.) in the Alpine area of the Julian Alps. The field campaign was organised between October 12 and November 3, 1994. The diurnal variation of ozone was during the campaign was organised between October 12 and November 3, 1994. The diurnal variation of ozone was during the campaign in 1994 strongly influenced by the weather situation. Strong diurnal variation with the highest ozone concentrations was observed on nice weather days. During the bad days the concentration levels as well as the diurnal variation were deminished. A similar ozone behaviour was observed during four measurement campaigns during all seasons of the year 1995 as well. The maximal levels with up to 99 ppb were recorded in July, but surprisingly high ozone concentrations were observed during the beginning of May. The ozone gradient measurements showed rather low gradients in the ozone concentration. The diurmal variation of the ozone flux showed the highest downroad values during late morning and early afternoon hours. The same pattern was observed for the ozone deposition velocity. The canopy resistance of ozone was closely related to the state of the vegetation and meteorological circumstances. Higher ozone fluxes were observed concurrently with higher ozone concentrations. A relation between the ozone concentration was found.
