  • Masonry infilled frames as an effective structural sub-assemblage

    Masonry infills incorporated in an existing or newly build frame structure can effeciently improve its seismic behaviour or cause unexpected damages. Reliable prediction of structural behaviour ... during an earthquake is one of the main problems. The experimentally based development of inelastic computational model gives an opportunity for the solution of this problem. The realibility of a computional model can be assessed by its comparison to experimental response by means of several parameters evaluated from hysteresis responses: response envelopes, ductility, stiffness deterioration, strength degradation and energy dissipation. The suitability of equivalent strut model for masonry infills modelling is discussed, using the DRAIN2DX program implemented with the new strut element developed through an extensive experimental research on masonry infilled reinforced concrete frames.
