    The paper presents analysis of religiosity in Slovenia, based on Slovenian Public Opinion Survey (1968-1999), as well as Slovenian data sets from World Values Survey (1992 and 1995) and Religion ISSP ... module (1991 and 1998). The author maintains that the influence of political situation on religiosity in Slovenia was strong only in a short period immediately after the 2nd World war. In the sixties and seventies a secularization trend may be observed in Slovenia. This trend ceases in the eighties, when new forms of religiosity emerge, in the context of individualization and pluralization of values. The process of political and economic transition had no strong influence on religious attitudes. Political 'legalization' of Catholic Church, which as a result, enhanced its political and economic influence, did not increase its social prestige. On the contrary, the process seems to have stimulated a new weave of secularization in Slovenia, similar to situation in Western Europe.
