    A pigment paste concentrate is a comples system even though it may contain only a few components. It is clear that interactions take place in such a system. Knowledge of the nature and the level of ... interaction in a system consisting pigment - solvent interactions, pigment - film forming polymer interactions, pigment - additive interactions and pigment - contaimnant interactions could help the formualtor to combine compatible, efficient materials into the pigment paste concentrate. Methods, such as inverse gas chromatography, adsorption studies, elekctrophoretic mobility evaluations, size exclusion chromatography, scanning electron microscopic evaluations, colour measurement assessments, were applied to selected materials in order to provide and to extend the knowledge of these interactions and of consequences of these interactions to the properties of the resultant composite coating system.
