  • Občutljivost povzročiteljev okužb dihal na antibiotike v Sloveniji = Antimicrbial susceptibility of common respiratory tract pathogens in Slovenia
    Seme, Katja, 1966- ...
Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis in Streptococcus pyogenes are the most frequent causative agents of community aequired respiratory infections. All listed ... respiratory pathogens relatively rapidly develop resistance to common therapeutic options, which represents oneof the basic problems in treatment of respiratory infections. We wanted to present the susceptibiliry rates of S. pneumoniae, H. influenzae, M. catarrhalis and S. pyogenes, isolated in 2004 from respiratory tract specimensin microbiology laboratories of Slovenian regional public health institutes, at the Institute of Microbiology and Immunology of the Ljubljana Medical Faculty, in the Laboratory for respiratory microbiology at Hospital Golnik and in the microbiology laboratory of Hospital Topolšica. The average penicillin susceptibility rate of respiratory S. pneumoniae isolates in 2004 was 75.8%. The penicillin susceptibility rate of pneumococci isolated from lower respiratoiy tract in children was lower than of pneumococci isolated from lower respiratory tract in adults. Low-level penicillin resistance predominated among penicfflin resistant pneumococci isolated in Slovenia. The overall erythromycin susceptibility rate of S. pneumoniae isolated in Sloveniain 2004 was 80.2% . The overall H. influenzae ampicillin susceptibility rate was 92.0%. The predominant mechanism of ampicillin resistance in H. influenzae was beta-lactamase production. Among M. catarrhalis isolates there were overall only 14.6% ampicillin susceptible. AllS. pyogcmes isolated in 2004 in Slovenia were penicillin, cefotaxime and vancomycin susceptible. The overall S. pyogenes erythromycin and clindamycin susceptibility rates were 87.3% and 89.7%, respectively.
