  • Odpornost povzročiteljev okužb sečil v Sloveniji = Antimicrobial resistance in urinary tract infections in Slovenia
    Ribič, Helena ...
Bacterial urinary tract infections are among the most frequent reasons for visit of patients in general practise. The authors represent retrospective analysis of the results of routine ... microbiological diagnostic of urine samplesof six Slovene laboratories. In the period from 1. January to 31. December 2004, three groups of out-patients were studied: children, less than 8 years old, patients aged 15 or more and long-term care patients. In all three groups, bacteria Escherichia coli was the most frequent isolate from urine samples. In the first and second group it was followed by enterococci and in the group of Iong-term care patients by Proteus mirabilis. The results of antimicrobial susceptibility of E. coli, P. mirabilis and enterococci show that susceptibility to tested antimicrobials is the highest in the group of children and the lowest in the group of long-term care patients. The rate of susceptibility is relatively Low in all three groups; therefore systematic surveillance of sensitivity of the most important uropathogens in all regions should be performed. More active approach to solve the problem should be started.
