  • The relationship between clinical and biomechanical status of the hip
    Smrke, Dragica
Femoral neck fracture, which often occurs in the elderly can be treated by implantation of hip endoprosthesis. In this work we analysed the outcome of the hips that were treated by implantation of ... bipolar partial endoprosthesis due to medial femoral neck fracture. The outcome was evaluated regarding the clinical and biomechanical status of the hip. We found that the hip with implanted bipolar hip endoprosthesis the clinical and the biomechanical hip score are interdependent. The linear dependence is statistically significant. Our results are in favor of the hypothesis that higher pmax predicts in the longer term a lower Harris hip score and therefore indicate that the peak stress pmax is a parameter that can be of use in predicting the outcome of thetreatment. Our result indicate that bipolar hip endoprosthesis is appropriate for the treatment of the medial femoral neck fracture in the patients with unharmed hip cartilages.
