Background. Cow's milk allergy is one of the commonest food allergies in childhood. It can effect the gastrointestinal tract. skin and/or respiratory system and, in its most severe form, it can ... manifest as anaphylactic shock. Mild elevation of serum aminotransferases without hepatfe synthetic dysfunction is a relatively common finding in infancy. The differential diagnosis includes infections. anatomical conditions, metabolic and hereditarydisorders, toxic injury and other causes. Case reports. We present two patients with cow's milk allergy in whom hepatopathy was found. In both cases the cow's milk allergy was proven by elevated concentration, of total serum IgE and milk-specific lgE. The levels of serum aminotransferases decreased or normalised after elimination of cow's milk fomules. Conclusions. Hepatopathy may be associated with cow's milk allergy. In infants showing isolated elevation of serum aminotransferases, cow's milk allergy should be considered in the differential diagnosis. Key words: hepatopathy, cow's milk allergy, cetirizine.
