  • Preventivne možnosti za zmanjšanje incidence kariesa pri osnovnošolcih : diplomska naloga
    Križnar, Anja
The restoration of all caries lesions detected during systematic examinations and at fissure sealing cannot be currently managed with the population of children in Kranj region (Slovenia). Preventive ... measures for caries incidence drop were researched. The aim of the research was to define to what extent parents and the target group children participate in the preventive programs and in what way this is related to the children's oral health and hygiene. Thetarget group of 117 children, aged 9-11 (mixed dentition) took part in the research. Information about oral health (DMFT index), oral hygiene and preventive measures was collected through anamnesis, clinical examination, parents-questionnaire and the results of the Competition for Clean Teeth. The connection between teeth health and successful oral hygiene maintained throughpreventive actions of the target group members was being observed. The results were collected and statistically analysed with the Microsoft Excel 2000 programme. Statistical differences were tested with the t tests and ANOVA. The results of the research show that the parents of children with higher index DMFT than the average are consequently more actively involved in helping their child to maintain oral health. Similarly, it can be observed that the children whose parents are more active in carrying out preventive measures have a better oral hygiene. Consequently, a lower caries incidence isexpected compared with other children. A positive influence of preschool preventive education on better DMFT index was observed, which, however, was not the case with the hygiene. Detailed research on bigger groups of children should be carried out to improve the effectiveness of fluoride applications. In the future it is expected that with improved preventive measures and a closer cooperation among the school, teachers, parents and health-care staff, a further drop of carries incidence with school children can be reached.
