    The authors used pure progestagens for anticonceptive purposes in a total of 1865 cycles. The most effective in anticonceptive action was lynestrenol, somewhat less effective was norgestrel, and the ... least effective was quingestanol. The anticonceptive effect in luteal supplementation, in the opinion of most authors, is based on the changes in cervical secretion. In the authors' opinion, the action of these progestagens is much more complex and often associated with the inhibition of ovulation, which is confirmed by the results of histological examinations of the endometrium as well as by the results of measurements of basal temperature, taken by some of the women while using the above mentioned preparations.
