    The overall oxidation process in the flue gas desulphurisation consists of a liquid phase chemical reaction, mass transfer of calcium sulfite from the solid particles to the liquid and transfer of ... oxygen into the liquid. The oxidation efficiency is determined by measuring the equilibriumoperational concentration of sulfite in taken samples of absorption suspension or directlyon-line by measuring the equilibrium-operational concentration of dissolved oxygen O2,aq in reactor. For the existing oxidation process in the FGD plant at Power Plant Šoštanj is found, that the concentration of dissolvedoxygen in the liquid phase changes with the specific contact area between gas and liquid phase as well a with the chemical composition of the absorption suspension. The dissolved oxygen electrode was used to obtain the optimal gas flow for oxidation. The results, which were the basis for the improving the economic operation of the pressure compressors, are discussed and observations are reported.
