  • Optimization of transport pipe networks

    The paper presents the optimal design of a pipe network tree path and the dimensioning of pipes for the transport of incompressible fluids. The mathematical model is composed of a nonlinear objective ... function and a system of linearized nonlinear hydraulic restriction inequations which are solved implicitly by the use of the numeic Simplex method. The optimal selection of the needed standard pipe diameter is implemented separately in each step of iteration. The nonlinear objective function includes the comparison of fluid transport costs along every pipe section. The cost analysis is made according to the method of capitalized costs, which includes investment, operating and maintenance costs, taking into account the corresponding discount rate. The described optimization procedure used in the design and dimensioning of processing pipe networks for the transport of incompressible fuids offers commercially interesting results.
