  • Der Kanon klassischer Zitate - ein System im soziokulturellen Polysystem

    Quotations from literary works and individual sayings of canonic (classic) authors can be referred to as allusions to these authors and their works or fragments of their work. These make up the ... "quotational canon". This is confirmed by collections of quotations (such as Buechmann's corpus of classical quotations from the German cultural sphere) based on the permanentlyquoted works of classical literature. In line with polysystem theory (according to which each culture can be designated as a dynamic system of competing systems), the quotational canon is a systemthat within a particular cultural sphere is linked with othe systems. The postulated quotational canon, as a canon of fragments, acts as an intermediary between the literary canon and the active quotational canon. In this way it plays a dicisive part in forming the system of idioms. Inter-systemic links connect social (canonic) systems formed in the collective unconscious and therefore must be analysed from a socio-cultural point of view.
