    When dyeing with a mixture of three dyestuffs, the variations of pressure, time, type of fabric and circulation cause differences in colour and levelness of the dyed samples. The levelness of dyed ... samples is very important in the dyeing industry and it is usually assessed visually, but it can also be successfully quantified with colorimetry. The maximum total colour difference calculated between various measuring points on the same dyed sample is the criterion for levelness. The best levelness of dyed samples is achieved with less compact fabrics at higher pressures, better circulation and longer dyeing time. The optimum conditions must be found for each system.
