  • Novi elementi za pograđivanje podzemnih objekata u jamama Premogovnika Velenje = New elements of support in underground mining at Velenje Coalmine

    Velenje Coalmine has already been using a classic kind of support for underground mining, that means wood and metal support. Because of the demand for higher level of security and fire precaution, ... later on we started to make covering and injections behind the wainscot. In pretentious conditions we alsoused additional steel cordage, wooden or stiff metal anchors. At first, density of metal support and thickness of wood were defined on the basis of experiences and depending from conditions. Later on, the technological processof tunneling has been improved, analysed in diverse conditions and a model of supporting has been determined. In 1988 Velenje Coalmine started with a new developmental research to modernize the technology of tunneling. That research includes three directions of tunneling development : new equipment research, new kind of technological process and work organization at development face. This article is trying to introduce the occupations, appearing through the new active kind of support. The foundation of a new system is based upon anchor tunneling. Anchors, as a support, are replacing the metal support, wooden wainscot has been replaced by armature net, made of artificial material. The foundation of a new system are anchors. Velenje Coalmine decided to use 'strained anchors' which overtake the burdening immediately and do not allow the progress of convergence. Due to the fact we thoroufhly investigated the process of anchoring and all the situations which might appear during the tunneling works. We also made several extensive geotechnical measurements, the results affected further work and development of supporting system and technological process. That kind of support reduces hard physical work in comparison to manipulation with metal support and thick wooden wainscot. This new technological process enables the increase of load capacity in rensponse from very low to the values which highly exceed the results of metal support. This is a great advantage, particularly if the cross-section of underground workings is going to increase. With its punctional and correct executing it also should provide minimizing of the plastic zone around working area , so the free security increases, or the security cover with capacity is only protection to itself and the armature net - protecting net has to be done. The results of an active support get a concrete value - especially at following areas: Detection of support costs, - Decrease of five-fighting coat costs, - Less transport during setting up or disassembly of support, - Higher advance at face because of less standstills during disamssembly. Since the beginning of that developmental research about 2500 m of tunneling with average 17 m2 cross-cut have been done. Due to the fact of using that kind of support, we are able to confirm, that it is cheaper and usable in a coal seam.
