  • Sport vehicle Šinkovec "MM"
    Kostanjevec, Andrej, konstruiranje ...
For a home-made "MM" Šinkovec sport vehicle stress analyses were carried out for vital supporting and safety components, because this was needed so that the motor vehicle could get a motor vehicle ... approval document. Because the vehicle manufacturer has no appropriate knowledge to perform such analyses, calculations were done on Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in laboratory LAVEK. In order to get the data of possible loads acting on wheels, a multi-mass dynamic model of the vehicle was made. On the basis of simulation of road courses in different driving conditions, wheel loads were then calculated. These loads were then applied to a FE models of vital elements of front and rear suspension, and computer supported stress analysis were made. The same loads were also used for calculating the acceleration field, which was further used in a computer supported stress analysis of a FE model of the chassis. The acceleration field formed the base for mass inertia forces occurring in particular components of the vehicle during extreme driving conditions. Beside the possibility of instant failure, estimation of fatigue failure for the vehicle chassis and vital elements of front and rear suspension was also carried out. Also the possibilities of instant failure of safety belts fixation and slide sledge of drivers seat were analyzed with computer supported stress calculations. The suitability of spatial position of safety belts with regard to injury risk was also controlled. All mentioned safety elements were analyzed with regard to momentarily valid standards, but possible loads for the chassis and the vital supporting elements were assessed analytically.
