  • Influence of cavitation structures on erosion of simetrical hydrofoil in a cavitation tunnel [Elektronski vir]

    To increase knowledge of cavitating flow a study of visual and erosion effects of cavitation was conducted. Cavitation was observed in a cavitation tunnel on a simple two dimensional hydrofoil. ... Erosion effects were studied at Technical University at Darmstadt, where a new method of evaluating erosion damage was developed. With help of computer aided visualisation, statistical evaluation of cavitation structures above hydrofoil was made at Turboinštitut in Ljubljana. The result is an empirical model which gives relation between agression of cavitation erosion of hydrofoil surface and visual structures of cavitation above hydrofoil. The study is a part of European project 5-EU Cavismonitor. Empirical model will be included in a model of monitoring and controlling cavitation in turbomachinery.
