    An allograft is trasplanted tissue from a representative of the same speciaes.In otosurgery, an allograft was first used in 1964, and in Slovenia the first surgery with use of an allograft was ... performed in 1979 at the Medical Center Ljubljana, Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Cervicofacial Surgery. Since then, and until July 1996 24 allografts have been implanted at this department. In the present paper the functional results of allograft-tympanolasty with respect to the different indications of the middle ear are discussed. When using allografts in "wet" ears, a satisfactory functional results was reached in 38 %. In implantation of allografts in "dry" ears satisfactory functional results were abtained in 81,5 % which comparable with the functional results described by other authors. Where autologous material is not available the use of allografts is still the most successful method for restoring the functional middle ear ossicular chain.
