    Today's management is confronted with an ever-increasing dynamics and complexity of the economic field. In this environment external resources and their inter-organizational management become cruical ... factors for gaining and sustaining competitive advantages. Therefore, interactions with other organizations for exchanging and acquiring external resources are one of the focal points of management. One of the major objectives of this paper consists of providing the background for explaining the processes taking place with co-operations. In the course of our investigation, we will examine how companies can obtain competitive advantages by participating in co-operations. Additionally, we will analyze success factors of optimal interactions.
