    Constant positive net migration of foreigners in Slovenia brings new challenges to communication in public services. Research of community interpreting in Slovenia has recently been emerging as an ... answer, at first only in certain fields. Within a mixed-methods approach to an overview of the state-of-play of community interpreting in Slovenia, the study looks at actualinterpreter-mediated interaction in the asylum procedure, exploring through critical discourse analysis its implications in power relations, role boundaries and the procedures. Results are in line with previous studies abroad: the interpreter acts in a dynamic position; the specifics of interpreter-mediated interaction influence the language and the balance of power, while causing adjustments to the procedure and the participants' rolees.
