    Three different subspecies of the Yellow Wagtail occur in Slovenia: Motacilla flava flava, M. f. cinereocapilla and M. f. feldegg. The author observed them at Ljubljansko barje (Ljubljana Marshes), ... where the feldegg and cinereocapilla breed which, however, is contrary to the basic principles regarding the distribution of subspecies. Namely, two subspecies of the same species cannot inhabir the same geographical area, and if they do then they are not subspecies. Observations of the Yellow Wagtail from the breeding period in Slovenia have thus reopened one of the basic questions of classification
