  • Translation trends within a minority [Elektronski vir] : the case of Slovene in Austrian Carinthia from 1990 to 2010

    This article focuses on the situation of Slovene an d German translations in the area inhabited by the Slovene ethnic minority in the Austrian stat e of Carinthia. The first part of the article ... presents the purposes of the study and a short intr oduction to the historical and sociolinguistic background of the Slovene ethnic minority. The hist orical part focuses on the most important points regarding the minority in Carinthia: the beg innings of the Slovene national awakening, the situation after both world wars, and the situation of the Slovene minority today. It also briefly describes the development of the three major publishers in this area. The second part of the article is empirical and analyzes the data I collected about all of the published translations in this area.
