    This thesis deals with political correctness and its influence on stand-up comedy. Political correctness is presented through its history and also looked at through the lens of freedom of speech. The ... thesis also presents the development of political correctness and stand-up comedy and points out how one influenced the other. Leading stand-up comedians that have been most vocal about political correctness are also presented in the thesis. The empirical part analyses three stand-up shows and uses qualitative descriptive methodology. The analysis focuses on the number of politically incorrect words used in stand-up routines and also analyses why certain politically incorrect expressions were used.
