  • Prevajanje zvez s predlogoma con in senza iz italijanščine v slovenščino na primeru romana Io non ho paura (Ni me strah) Niccoloja Ammanitija : diplomska seminarska naloga
    Šiljak, Tamara
Italian prepositional phrases with con and senza are semantically quite heterogeneous, which is reflected in their linguistic presentations, lexical descriptions included. For this reason, I decided ... to analyse, in my undergraduate thesis, which semantic functions characterize these Italian prepositional phrases in a concrete text and what are their Slovene translation equivalents. The analysis is based on examples from the novel Io non ho paura (Niccolò Ammaniti) and its Slovene translation Ni me strah (translated by Nataša Kos). In the analysed text, the most frequently attested prepositional phrases with con are those with the semantic function of means, followed by phrases indicating quality, union, manner, company, relation, and time. Their most common translation equivalent, within all semantic categories, is the instrumental prepositional phrase (e.g. z + instrumental); other options are much less frequent. Prepositional phrases with senza generally indicate exception. In the Slovene text, the same function is typically expressed by the prepositional phrase brez + genitive. Italian senza can function also as a conjunction, introducing a non-finite exception clause (e.g. senza + infinitive). Its most regular Slovene counterpart is the conjunction ne da, which introduces a manner clause.
