    Even though the use of alternative assessment forms in the English classroom is permitted and recommended by legislation, and even though many researches show the benefits and positive effects of ... incorporating alternatives to traditional tests and oral assessment in the assessment process, teachers are still reluctant to using them. Besides the cognitive aspects of alternative and authentic assessment forms, studies show that the use of such forms has a huge impact on motivation and student engagement. The thesis results indicate that the use of alternative assessment forms can be connected with higher level of motivation and engagement. The latter has been proved in the case of primary school interviewees, whereas secondary school interviewees identify more negative aspects of such assessment techniques, which do not increase their motivation and consequently do not affect their engagement in the learning process.
