  • Using genetic programming to predict the macroporosity of woven cotton fabrics
    Dobnik-Dubrovski, Polona ; Brezočnik, Miran
This paper reports the effects of woven fabric construction on macroporosity properties. The area of micropore cross section, equivalent, maximum and minimum pore diameters, pore density and open ... porosity are observed in this research involving woven fabric construction parameters - yarn density, fabric tightness, weave type, and denting. Predictive models, determined by genetic yarn programming, are derived to describe the influence of fabric construction. The results show very good agreement between the experimental and predicted values. This work provides the guidelines for engineering staple-yarn cotton fabrics in a grey state in terms of macroporosity properties.
