  • Optimisation of flow of order in flexible manufacturing system by genetic algorithms

    A method for searching the optimum order flow through flexible manufacturing systems is presented. It is based on transport times, preparation/completion times, manufacturing times and costs. The ... paper defines two fitness functions that describe the problem of optimization of times and costs of order execution. Then the genetic algorithm method is used to find the flow marked by the smallest possible fitness function value. Coding of solutions is carried out so that the gene consists of the operation and machine on which the operation is executed. First, a group of possible genes is created. The feasibility of an operation on a machine is verified by searching for the operation required by the order out of the operations defined for the machine by DIN standards. In this way, only the appropriate genes and organisms, and consequently, the possibility of using simple genetic and evolutionary operations is assured.
