  • Effect of gradually modulated electrical stimulation on the plasticity of artificially evoked movements

    The paper presents a feasibility study to show that movement plasticity can be improved using a gradually modulated stimulation sequence. The stimulation amplitude can be adjusted to eight ... above-threshold levels for 16 equal intervals within the walking cycle. The efficiency of such stimulation was demonstrated on the drop-foot correction with two hemiparetic patients. The pretibial muscle group was stimulated and a significant improvement of the ankle-joint goniograms was shown. This fact suggests that a more important correction of hemiplegic gait using multichannel continuously modulated sequences can be achieved.
