Gypsophila Trichotoma Wend. (Caryophyllaceae) is protected in Bulgaria by the Biodiversity Law. It is assessed as endangered plant species for the Bulgarianflora. On the other hand, it proved to be ... medicinal plant with high biological activity against different diseases. We studied the main reproductive characters of G. trichotoma. The sampled flowers are basically hermaphrodite, however, they differ. There are morphs with short and long stamens as well few practically female flowers with short stamens with sterileanthers on a same genet. The tests revealed that the flowers are self-compatible but spontaneous self-pollination may occur in the flowers where hercogamy mechanism does not work. The flowers are actively visited by small bees and hover flies. The in situ and ex situ free pollination fruit andseed set are estimated.
