  • Tool formation process in abrasive water jet machining
    Junkar, Mihael ...
Recently, a theoretical and experimental work concerning the tool formation process in Abrasive Water Jet (AWJ) machining was carried out at the Swiss Centre of Water Jet Technology in collaboration ... with the Laboratory for Alternative Technologies. This work is far from being finished and several issues still have to be addressed. We will present the first results and anticipate the future work. Our objectives are to better understand the physics and influence of the parameters on the AWJ formation process. This canbe achieved by theoretical investigations and experimental work including tests on enlarged scaled models of the observed process. The final result should be a model of AWJ formation process, which will allow optimizing the cutting head geometry and defining the optimal process parameters in order to increase the performance and precision of AWJ machining.
