Nurses are of key importance, since they triage a patient when he comes to the emergency center, and determine the degree of urgency. This improved the quality of patient care and the speed of treatment of life-threatened patients. The patients' satisfaction and their awareness of the triage system is not yet known. Method: The quantitative research method was applied for data collection, using a survey questionnaire, after the completed treatment of patients in the Slovenj Gradec Emergency Centre. Data was collected in the period from 26.4.2016 to 29.6.2017, processed in Excel, and presented in graphs and table. Results: Despite the fact that 60% of interviewees believed they know the meaning of triage, the survey revealed they have a wrong idea on what it actually means. The importance of triage system was not explained to 63% of interviewed patients when they arrived to the Emergency Centre. The majority of patients, over 56%, who were treated at the Emergency center, were satisfied with their treatment. Nearly 70% of the patients are familiar with the layout of the Slovenj Gradec Emergency Centre. Discussion: The staff at hospitals' emergency departments are performing triage every day. It is a process that has been used for a long time in treatment of patients in emergency departments. The criteria for sequence of treating patients is not the time of arrival to the hospital, but how much the patient is at risk. In recent years, the triage system is gaining in significance due to the greater number of patients and their expectations for fast and quality medical treatment. The thesis presents the concept of triage and the patient triage system in Slovenia, and the most frequent emergency medical conditions that require immediate hospital treatment. The research on satisfaction and awareness of patients of the Slovenj Gradec Emergency Centre determined the patients' knowledge of triage, their satisfaction with the triage procedure, and their knowledge about the Emergency Centre.Vrsta gradiva - diplomsko deloZaložništvo in izdelava - Slovenj Gradec : [J.
