Wrestling the crowd [Elektronski vir]Jurišić, BorutFollow the transformation of Tim Sawyer, from a child believing wrestling is real, into a young adult reaching unimaginable success by becoming a part of the pro-wrestling creative team of social ... engineers, developing characters and feuds that influence the popular public opinion of masses, for the sake of political power. Wrestling the Crowd is a fiction novel, based on the idea of pro-wrestlers' interactions with live audiences. The story follows the fictional account of Timothy Sawyer, a son of an in-business veteran, who is riding the pro-wrestling tide of the early to late eighties. The novel deals with several issues, from pure pro-wrestling issues such as gimmick development of a character, to issues of a young man becoming an adult. Along the way he discovers the pro-wrestling goes beyond pure entertainment, based on an agreement between Maximillian Milles and Hue Rockshield made in the early eighties, when they agree about breaking the classical barriers of pro-wrestling territories and creating an entertainment empire, which Rockshield can use as his experimental playground. Through the guidance of both his father and Steve Hunters, the social engineer in charge of pro-wrestling becoming the opinion making pop cultural phenomena presented within the novel, young Timmy learns about basic life concepts of what is real and what makes people tick. His involvement in the world of pro-wrestling gives him an in-depth look into the pretend world of kayfabe, while learning about the real-life drama and hardship of wrestlers, provides him with life lessons about love, sex, interpersonal relationships, but most of all, teaches him the most important personal lesson: in the world, where everything you do is basically a lie, to keep up the public appearance, the one person you should never lie to, is your own self!Vrsta gradiva - kratka proza ; leposlovje za odrasleZaložništvo in izdelava - V Mariboru : samozal., 2022Jezik - angleškiISBN - 978-961-07-1021-9COBISS.SI-ID - 99681283
