  • Influence of styrenic block copolymers on mechanical and morphological properties of PP and PP/talc composites

    Isotatic polypropylene (PP), modified with a filler or/and elastomers, was used in this investigation. The impact of elastomers on PP, as well as the impact of elastomers in ternary composites ... PP/talc/elastomer with 12 vol.% of talc, were investigated. Poly(styrene-b-ethylene-co-propylene) (SEP) and poly(styrene-b-butylene-b-styrene) (SBS) were used as elastomers. Samples were prepared by melt-mixing in a Brabender kneading chamber and by compression modeling into plates on a laboratory press. The blends and composites were characterized by measuring mechanical properties (tensile properties, notched impact strenght) as well as by defining the morphology.
