  • Housing in non-urban settlements : changes in traditional architecture due to the new way of life [Elektronski vir]
    Fikfak, Alenka
Non-urban settlements of today are no longer rural villages. They combine all the advantages of the natural and urban environment. What used to be part of the traditional gains today gradually on ... importance as an aesthetic value. Partly this is taking place because of the general tendency to drop the traditional patterns not only with the user but also in the branch that is more motivated by the formal effects of an abstract idea than by the understanding of how environment functions in every day life. New types of dwellings in the countryside consider changes and factors with influence on space and will be an expression of new dwelling culture in the rural environment. The main criterion will be the relation between urbanism and architecture: between location, management and a building. These elements will form construction criteria in the sense of "perception, visualization in space". More important than a mere aesthetic approach is what a particular element can offer and what is its role in relation to the whole and vice versa.
