  • Emotionsphraseme in der Kinder- und Jugendliteratur : am Beispiel der Erzählungen von Christine Nöstlinger und Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić
    Matulina-Jerak, Željka
The aim of this paper is to present the results of an analysis on German and Croatian phraseological units containing components derived from the field of emotional life. The analysis is based on a ... corpus of short stories for children and young people. The authors are two women writers - namely, the Austrian writer Christine Nöstlinger and the Croatian writer Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić. The main question posed in this paper is whether there are any specific features which distinguish the use of phraseological units of children and young people from those of adults. Secondly, the analysis attempts to find out which specific classes of phraseological units are used in the corpus. Finally, the analysis tries to show the tendencies of using the phraseological units in the literary texts of these two writers, while also dealing with the characteristic features of their individual poetic styles. The analysis of the corpus has shown that most phraseological units in the chosen literary works are not metaphorical (not-idiomatic) and that the prevailing phraseological classes in both collections of short stories are nominal predicative constructions where the most preferred emotional concepts in both corpuses are joy and happiness. It can also be concluded that the phraseological units are mostly used in the descriptive parts of the texts and that the objects of description are mostly seen in childrenʼs roles.
