    Contrastive linguistics is no longer fashionable in some schools of translation studies due to its creation of a false sense of possible equivalence.Nevertheless, this article defends the stance that ... contrastive linguistics can still generate new knowledge about related languages within the scope of new linguistic disciplines such as pragmatics, corpus analysis, textology and critical discourse analysis.Thischapterhighlights some methodological approaches to contrastive grammar analysis, preparation of material for analysis, and interpretation of results. It citesselected articles exploring contrastive grammar that illustrate some of the possibilities offered by contrastive analysis and suggests certain journals for further reading.
