    The article analyzes changes in the publishing field caused by the implementation of digital technologies, especially the growing number of published book titles. Grounded in the contemporary ... theories of publishing (Darnton, Thompson, Bhaskar), it establishes possible criteria for differentiation between various approaches to the publishing field. Due to digitalization, some of the traditional elements have been omitted from the communication circuit of the book, or their role is at least diminishing. The growing number of books at the market contributes to the importance of factors called filtering and amplifying, according to Michael Bhaskar. The article explores the possibilities of establishing the point where books reach the standards of filtering and amplifying.
