  • Industrial wastes possible source of raw material for applications in energy conservation and environmental protection [Elektronski vir]
    David, E., strojnica ; Kopač, Janez, 1949-
The purpose of this research is to answer the challenge of transforming industrial wastes into raw material source. The subject was studied concerning the particular case of a solid aluminum residue. ... The waste product that was considered in this paper was fines of equal or less than 50 [micro]m because this waste product is considered as hazardous aluminium waste (HAW). In the researches that have performed we shown which is the negative impact on the environment and people health of this hazardous waste if it is stored in landfill and then there are presented some examples of how this waste can become a useful raw material for obtaining high value added products, such would be to generate hydrogen as a source of clean energy, getting aluminum oxy-hydroxide (boehemite), alumina and a harmless environmental residue with possible applications in the refractory or cement industry. These results highlight the possibility of using aluminium industrial wastes as an important source of raw materials with important effects in energy conservation and environmental protection.
