  • Model-based optimization of compressor mounting using genetic algorithms [Elektronski vir]

    A typical reciprocating compressor for domestic appliances consists of an operating unit mounted in a housing. The reciprocating motion of the piston within the unit excites the vibrations of the ... unit which are transmitted via mounting to the housing and compressor surrounding. It is desirable to design mounting in such a way, that the vibrations transmitted to the surrounding areminimal. In the investigated compressor, the unit is mounted on four equal compression springs attached to its bottom, while a bent tube is attached at the unit top, connecting it with the housing. Based on an analytical model describing vibration of the unit within the housing, the optimal axial and radial stiffnesses of the supporting strings and the pressure tube and the optimal locations of their attachment points are determined such that the amplitude of the forces transmitted to the surrounding are minimal. The optimization is performed using genetic algorithms.
