  • Determining parameters of a three-phase permanent magnet synchronous machine using controlled single-phase voltage source [Elektronski vir]
    Plantić, Željko ; Štumberger, Gorazd
This paper deals with experimental methods appropriate for determining parameters of permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSM). Appropriately connected windings of the tested PMSM are supplied ... with controlled single- andthree-phase voltage source in the form of linear amplifiers. In this way, parameters of the PMSM can be determined in the case when the tested PMSM is treated as a single-phase load and in the case when it is treated as a three-phase load observed through its two-axis d-q model. The supply voltages with different wave forms and different amplitudes are applied. Frequency of the supply voltages is kept low in order to minimize the impact of eddy current losses on obtained result. During the tests the PMSM is locked at given position. Measured are applied voltages and responding currents. They are used to determine PMSM parameters. This paper compares and evaluates different experimental methods appropriate for determining PMSM parameters. They are based on numerical integration, analysis of current time-response andon harmonic analysis combined with calculation of phasors and impedances. The results presented in the paper show that parameters of two-axis PMSM dynamic model can be determined with sufficient accuracy even when the three-phase PMSM with appropriately connected windings is supplied with a single stepwise changing voltage.
