  • Experimental continuous casting of Ni-base superalloys

    Ni-base superalloys possess the best combination of high temperature strength and corrosion resistance. To achieve their extraordinary properties a strict control over process parameters in all ... production steps is necessary. According to the author`s knowledge no data about the continuus castability of cast Ni-base superalloys are available in literature. In the Laboratory for Marierials of the University in Maribor we have a unique combination of a laboratory scale vacuum induction furnace and a continuous caster. These enable us to determine experimentally the ability of continuous casting processing for production of Ni-base superalloys. In this work we report on the preliminary experiments in which we have succeeded to continuously cast three Ni-base superalloys: IN 713 C, GRM 235 and C 1023.
