  • Nevrodiagnostika v ambulanti za zdravljenje bolečine = Neurodiagnosis in analgesic practice
    Salihović, Mensur
The usual diagnostic procedures such as MRI, CT, radiography and EMG often do not reveal the reason for chronic pain. Most patients with chronic pain complain about sensory nerve system disturbances ... or referred subjective symptoms. Neurometry is a quantitative, painless, neuroselective, harmless, sensory nerve system test and a method for measuring the pain tolerance threshold. Its sensitivity makes possible the early detection of sensory nervefunction impairment of almost all causes. Using this examination, it is possible to detect pain perception abnormalities such as alodynia; hyperpathiaor dysesthesia. Neuroselectivity is based on the fact that electrical stimuli of different sinusoidal frequencies will evoke a response from different nerve fibre subpopulations: 5 Hz - C and polymodal C fibres; 250 Hz A delta; and 2000 Hz - A beta fibres. The neurometer (Neurotron Inc.) thus unites the advantages of all other sensory nerve system examinations. It is also very good in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of polyneuropathy, radiculopathy and mononeuropathy, as well as for monitoring the effects of all kinds of therapy.
