Razvoj termičnega merilnika masnega toka : doktorsko deloRupnik, Klemen, 1986-This work presents the results of the research and development of a new design of thermal dispersion mass flow meter, which has, in addition to measurement of the mass flow rate, the capability to ... identify the type of gas from a defined set of gases with known elemental compositions and to correct the measurement characteristic. On the basis of a one-dimensional mathematical model of the thermal flow sensor in the thermal dispersion mass flow meter, the physical background of the measurement method for the identification of the type of gas and the possibilities and requirements for its realization are given. A two-dimensional mathematical model was built and employed to analyse the heat transfer in the thermal flow sensor and to study the effects on the measurement characteristic. An innovative thermal dispersion mass flow meter containing two thermal flow sensors with circular and square cross-sections was developed and calibrated for five different gases with known elemental compositions in order to experimentally validate the proposed gas-identification method. If the measurement characteristics for an improper gas are employed, the mass flow readings of the thermal flow sensors will generally differ.
