    Good knowledge about advanced wound care dressings, available today, is very important for ensuring efficient wound care. We have to be aware of the basic demands these dressings have to fulfil. Some ... of the studies indicate that the most important demands for wound dressings are prevention of tissue damage andpain during dressing changes. In addition to basic demands, dressings have to fulfil some specific demands, too, in order to choose the appropriate dressing. Specific demands depend on many factors, such as etiology of the wound, wound type, availability of the dressings... The most common dressings are described and divided into groups according to their composition and performance. The most important rule in wound care is the consideration of patient as an individual human being with psychological, physiological and social characteristics affecting the efficient wound care and healing process.
