  • Psihosocialni vidik motenj hranjenja = Psycho social aspect of eating disorders
    Čibej-Žagar, Barbara, novinarka
Food and eating are not only important for a survival, but are in a subtle wayincluded in an individual ' psychological world and social component of his/her life. When food becomes the major ... instrument for resolving individual stress, eating becomes the stress itself instead the remedy. The vicious circle of eating disorders is therefore closed and it is difficult for an individual to find the way out without the professional help. Factors influencing the development of eating disorders are numerous and intertwined. This aspect is especially important in the therapy of persons with eating disorders. Most important factors are: social norms and pressures on body appearance, the family in which individual lives or he/she used to live, his/her stress coping strategies and predispositions relating to high vulnerability for development of eating disorders. Eating disorders can be defined as "women problem", as women develop exactly this form of pathology more frequently than men.
