Yet since then various events including the non-ratification of the Constitutional Treaty along with the difficulties in relation to the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty, and the financial crisis and its consequences have led to calls for more accountability and transparency in the EU. This book explores whether the EU is an accountable international organisation and investigates whether any progress towards accountability and transparency has been made in the post-Lisbon era. It takes a holistic approach to the subject reviewing the overall decision-making process of the EU
