  • Hemangiomi obraza in mediastinuma - prikaz primera = Facial and mediastinal haemangiomas - case report
Pukmeister, B. ; Borinc Beden, Andreja, dr. med.
Haemangiomas are benign tumours of the vascular endothelium. They usually become visible a few weeks after birth. The majority are small, but they can grow to such a size that they are ... life-threatening, mostly because of heart failure, but also because of their location. They grow fastest in first few months of life and spontaneously regress by the age of eight years. Large, life-threatening haemangiomas require treatment, initially with corticosteroids. Another treatment option is interferon alfa 2a or 2b. Becauseof the many possible side effects of treatment, the patient must be regularly monitored and the treatment dosage reevaluated.
