  • Image analysis as a tool in geometrical description and structural analysis of outcrops = Digitalna obdelava slik kot orodje za strukturno analizo izdankov

    Detailed structural interpretation of inaccessible outcrops, such as quarry walls or mountain faces, can be aided with the use of digital image processingtechniques. The photograph of the outcrop is ... scanned and optimized with dedicated software by using contrast stretching and high-frequency spatial filtering, resulting in considerably enhanced visibility of bedding traces, faults, fractures and other structural elements. Other features of modern image processing software, like interactive zooming, layering of images, and the possibility to draw the interpretation as vectorial overlay, further assist the interpreter in his task.
