    ǂThe ǂarticle contains a comparison of conditions of running business activity by SMEs in Poland and EU countries. The comparison is being made in the period of Poland's intensive preparations for ... its integration with the European Union. That is why the anlysis has been focussed on: (i) identification of nature and importance of existing variations; (ii) definition of crucial problems connected with development of the SME sector and its environment; (iii) definition of desirable measures aimed at eliminating growth barriers and identifying these fields of the economy, which will require a pecular intervention on teh part of political decision makers.
